Dr Springate is the medical director of the Netcare St Augustine's Hyperbaric Unit. He completed his medical degree in 1986 from the University of Cape Town. After completing two years of military service where he was employed as an operational doctor, he spent time working in the Northern territories of Canada. He returned to join the Sharks rugby franchise as the team physician during the 90's and subsequently with the Springbok U19 team where he took joined them on two RWC campaigns. He was one of the founding members of the St Augustine's Hospital Hyperbaric unit in 2000 when he realised the healing potential of this treatment modality from his exposure to it whilst at the Naval base. He currently also specializes in complex wound care which is frequently used as an adjunct to hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Dr Springate loves the outdoors and being active along the Durban Coastline.
Dr Bodley graduated as a physiotherapist from WITS University in 2007. After a few years in practice, she went back to medical school to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. She graduated from WITS medical school in 2015, after which she spent some time in orthopaedic surgery and later obtained a diploma in anaesthesia from the College of Medicine (SA). She has a keen interest in clinical research and has contributed to the field through published work. She further earned a Master of Medical Science in Public Health through UKZN. Through extensive clinical experience, she identified a significant gap in chronic wound management, which fueled her interest in hyperbaric medicine and the treatment of complex wounds. She is a mom of two busy little boys and is an avid surf swimmer, who can be seen catching waves at Durban's North Beach.
